Activities Daily Every morning starts with an hour of exercise and martial arts to wake everyone up. After a morning snack, tables and chairs are brought out to begin work on writing, mathematics, problem solving, science, and the arts. Lunch is followed by a half hour of silent reading to let the food settle. The quiet doesn't last long, for the afternoon is filled with games to promote teamwork and good sportsmanship. The afternoon is also time for field trips! Field Trips If you're a parent of a camper, please make sure your child brings the appropriate items for the trips. Lansdowne YMCA Pool - Every Monday and Wednesday, the children are walked to the swimming pool by four counselors for an hour. (Bring a bathing suit, towel, dry set of clothes, goggles). Playhouse Lanes Bowling - Tuesday afternoon, everyone gets a few games of bowling! (Wear socks and sneakers) Marple 10 Theaters - The second Wednesday of each session, the camp will see a free movie in the morning. (Bring money for popcorn and snack, if desired) The Painted Horse's Pizza Course 101 - The Painted Horse restaurant invited each camp session to take a tour of their kitchen, learn how pizza dough is mixed and how hot it gets in an oven (and a freezer!). After the tour, everyone sits down to make their own personal pizza for lunch. The Park - Luckily we live in an area that still has pieces of nature and is not filled completely with concrete. If the weather permits on Thursday (not too hot and not too wet), we will take a walk down to Naylors Run Park, Windermere Park, or to the Ardmore Avenue Elementary School. Friday is Game Day! After a long week of work, both physical and mental, everyone gets to simply relax. Sports and games fill the morning until everyone is tired out. After lunch, a movie plays while board games cover the floor. |
